Previous ownwers
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:32:33 AM »

I am doing a nut and bolt restoration on a 1976 s III 6 pot truck cab. (Last one added in owners rides) I am trying to trace pervious owners. Of course I had the last owner from the registration document and got into contact with him, but he did not have the name or number from the owner before him, so a dead end there.   Following this I send in a
form including a cheque to the DVLA, but I got a letter back stating that they couldĀ“t send me the info for privacy reasons.

Does anyone know if there is any other way to get the information.

Thanks,

Harald

Harald,
I had this same trouble (being in Europe and not the UK). DVLA would not send me the information. Like you, I did get some information from one of the previous owners, whose name I had on a repair receipt.

I got the most information by putting up a blog about my Land Rover. A former owner saw the blog by chance, recognized their old Land Rover, and got in touch. Eventually this person could give me all the information they had, which included a DVLA history up to their ownership and all the repairs and mainenance they undertook.
